I recently bought a special kind of art that I discovered long time ago: a glass sphere with a unique depth effect when you look at it and when the light shines on it.

I think it took me around 15 to 20 years to buy it. I first came across these spheres around 20 years ago, probably on Reddit. I do not remember exactly where I first encountered it.

But what I do remember is that, from time to time, I would go to the site, check the latest creations, and feel amazed by the sheer beauty of those spheres. The colors, the depth, were mesmerizing.

There was something unique about how they looked and appeared.

But I never decided to buy one. On one hand, they were expensive. On the other hand, they would ship from very far away from where I live.

A Special Kind of Art

This was true until recently when I wanted to buy a unique present for a dear friend and I wanted to give them something they could not find here in Italy.

I realized that one of these unique spheres would be a good candidate, plus I would be closer to where they make it for some weeks.
I bought one and had it shipped to the city I was visiting.

Bacl home I realized that this was probably the longest checkout flow, or funnel, in history, even though, to be totally honest, I had probably decided to buy this on the first day I saw one.

It was never about the product. It was more about the price and me finding a reason to appreciate this kind of art. To give me permission to have it.

We worry a lot about why a product might not be selling more, but sometime it is not about the product itself. It is about when that product encounters you in your life.

The moment to buy this for me was now, but the moment I truly made the purchase in my mind was probably 20 years ago.
